It is mainly used in electrolytic cells as a flow field or diffusion material, especially on the oxygen (anode) side. Due to the immediate oxidation of carbon to CO2 (if the medium is acidic) or carbonate ions (if the medium is alkaline) during the electrolytic reaction, the hardware of the electrolyzer cannot use a carbon-based gas diffusion layer (GDL) at the oxygen evolution electrode. Therefore, titanium fiber felt becomes an ideal choice for the diffusion medium. It also provides electrical contact between the anode catalyst layer and the bipolar plate or the anode side collector component. Our titanium fiber felt is made of small-diameter titanium fibers, which are compressed into a flat shape and annealed (i.e., sintered), ensuring a smooth and flat surface suitable for use in electrolytic cells. Although most industrial applications operate electrolytic cells in anode-powered mode, this product is also an ideal diffusion medium for researchers conducting research on cathode-powered electrolytic cells.
